KING'S QUEST 1 - QUEST FOR THE CROWN

 

TO GET STARTED, GO [W2X\N\E] TO THE GARDEN. ONCE THERE, TAKE A CARROT THEN GO UP TO THE ELF. [IF NOT THERE, GO DOWN AND UP AGAIN] TALK TO HIM, THEN HE WILL GIVE YOU A MAGIC RING. NOW GO [S\W\S] TO A ROCK THEN PUSH IT AWAY. DOING SO REVEALS A DARK HOLE. LOOK IN THE HOLE, THEN GET THE DAGGER. GO [W] THEN GET SOME PEBBLES NEAR THE RIVER. GO [W\N3X] TO THE FRONT DOOR OF A WITCH'ES HOUSE. SAVE YOUR GAME, THEN KNOCK AT THE DOOR. [IF YOU HEAR SOMEONE, GO DOWN ONE SCREEN THEN GO UP AGAIN. NOW DO THE KNOCKING AND LEAVING UNTIL NO ONES THERE] OPEN THE DOOR, THEN GO TO THE BEDROOM. GET THE NOTE LYING ON THE TABLE, THEN LOOK AT IT. WAIT HERE UNTIL THE WITCH COME'S. SHE WON'T SEE YOU BECAUSE YOU’RE IN THE OTHER ROOM. WHEN SHE'S COOKING, GO TO HER THEN PUSH HER IN THE POT. WHEN SHE'S DEAD, OPEN THE CABINET AND GET THE CHEESE. LEAVE THE HOUSE, THEN GO [S2X\W] UNTIL YOU SEE A CORRAL. OPEN THE GATE, THEN ENTER THE CORRAL. WHEN YOU SEE THE GOAT, SHOW IT THE CARROT. NOW HE'LL FOLLOW YOU WHEREVER YOU GO. EXIT THE CORRAL, THEN HEAD [W2X] YOU WILL SEE A FAIRY GODMOTHER HANDING OUT BLESSINGS, SHE WILL APPEAR AND GIVE YOU A SHORT-LIVED PROTECTIVE SPELL. NOW GO UP TO THE CLOVER PATCH AND GET A CLOVER. GO UP TO THE WOODEN BRIDGE. AS YOU START TO CROSS THE BRIDGE, AN UGLY TROLL BARS THE WAY AND WON'T LET YOU PASS UNLESS YOU GIVE HIM SOMETHING. HOWEVER, YOUR GOAT WHICH HATES TROLLS, RUN’S TOWARDS HIM AND BUTTS HIM OFF THE BRIDGE. CROSS THE BRIDGE, THEN GO UP. YOU'VE FOUND A CROTCHETY OLD GNOME, TALK TO HIM. HE INFORMS YOU THAT HE HAS SOMETHING TO GIVE YOU THAT MIGHT BE USEFULL, BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN GUESS HIS NAME! HE GIVES YOU THREE CHANCES. TYPE RUMPLESTILTSKIN [BACKWARD] IN AMAZEMENT, HE SAYS "THAT'S RIGHT!" AND GIVE'S YOU A HANDFUL OF MAGIC BEANS. GO [E] TO ANOTHER BRIDGE, BUT BECAREFULL NOT TO FALL INTO THE GORGE. CROSS THE BRIDGE, THEN GO [E] TO A FLOWER PATCH. PLANT THE BEANS. ALL OF A SUDDEN, A HUGE BEANSTALK STRETCHES UP OUT OF SIGHT INTO THE CLOUDS. SAVE YOUR GAME OFTEN, THEN CLIMB THE BEANSTALK UNTIL YOU ENTER THE CLOUDS. GO [E2X\S\E2X] UNTIL YOU COME TO A TREE WITH A HOLE IN ITS BASE. LOOK IN THE HOLE, THEN GET THE SLINGSHOT. GO [W2X\N] NOW USE THE RING ON YOURSELF, THEN GO [E] JUST STAY HERE. EVENTUALLY, THE GIANT WILL BECOME TIRED AND LIE DOWN. NOWS YOUR CHANCE, THE CHEST HE'S CARRYING IS KING EDWARD'S CHEST. GET IT, THEN HEAD [E] INTO A CAVE. MAKE SURE YOU WALK IN THE RIGHT PLACES OR YOU'LL FALL. IT WUOLD BE A GOOD IDEA TO SAVE YOUR GAME OFTEN. WHEN YOU'RE OUTSIDE THE CAVE, HEAD [W2X\S] TO A WELL. CUT THE ROPE WITH YOU’RE DAGGER. CUTTING THE ROPE GET'S THE BUCKET FOR YOU. NOW LOWER THE ROPE INTO THE WELL, THEN CLIMB DOWN. WHEN YOU GET TO THE END OF YOUR ROPE, JUMP IN THE WATER AND DIVE. THE CHEST YOU SEE IS NOT THE CHEST YOU SEEK, GO LEFT THEN UP. GET OUT OF THE WATER, THEN FILL YOUR BUCKET. GO LEFT, THEN YOU WILL SEE A DRAGON. GO NEAR HIM. WHEN HE WAKE'S UP, IMMIDIATELY THROW THE WATER AT HIM. HE BLOW'S SMOKE EVERYWHERE AND HE'S SO EMBARRASSED THAT HE MOVES A BOULDER BLOCKING THE EXIT FROM THE CAVE AND SULKS AWAY. TAKE THE MIRROR, THEN LEAVE THE CAVE. OUTSIDE, YOU WILL SEE A CONDOR. IGNORE IT FOR NOW, THEN GO [S2X] LOOK IN THE STUMP, THEN YOU WILL SEE AN OLD CANVAS POUCH. GET THE POUCH, THEN LOOK AT IT. WOW, IT’S FULL OF DIAMONDS. GO [E3X\N] TO A BIG TREE. CLIMB THE TREE, BUT TRY NOT TO FALL. GO TO THE NEST, THEN GET THE GOLDEN EGG. CLIMB DOWN THE TREE THEN GO [N2X] TO ANOTHER TREE. LYING ON THE GROUND ARE WALNUTS. GET A WALNUT, THEN OPEN IT. ON THE INSIDE, YOU WILL FIND A SOLID GOLD WALNUT. GO [E] THEN PICKUP THE BOWL ON THE GROUND. GO [S2X\E5X\S2X] TO A WOODCUTTER'S HOUSE. ENTER THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR, THEN YOU WILL SEE TWO SAD COUPLES. LOOK AT THE BOWL, THEN YOU WILL SEE THE WORD "FILL" WRITTEN ON ITS BOTTOM. USE THE BOWL ON YOURSELF, THEN THE SIMPLE CERAMIC BOWL FILLS TO THE BRIM WITH HOT STEW. GIVE THE BOWL TO THE MAN, THEN HE WILL GIVE YOU HIS FIDDLE. GET IT, THEN LEAVE THE HOUSE. GO [W\S3X] TO THE CAVE, THEN SAVE YOUR GAME. SEE THE CONDOR, GO TO THE SMALL ROCK NEAR THE BIG ROCK THEN GRAB THE CODOR. THE BIRD FLIES HIGH UP IN THE AIR AND CARRIES YOU TO A SMALL PLACE THAT LIES VERY NEAR THE CASTLE. WHEN HE DROPS YOU, LOOK AT THE HOLE. BECAREFUL NOT TO FALL IN, THEN GO LEFT. LOOK AT THE CASTLE AND THE MUSHROOM. TAKE IT, THEN RETURN TO THE HOLE. DROP INTO THE HOLE, THEN GO DOWN TO THE END OF THE TUNNEL. GO LEFT. HERE'S A HUNGRY RAT, GO NEAR HIM. WHEN YOU TALK TO IT, GIVE THE CHEESE TO HIM. GO TO THE DOOR, THEN OPEN IT. ON THE OTHER SIDE IS A TINY LEPRECHAUN, IMMIDIATELY PLAY THE FIDDLE. LATER AFTER THEY DISSAPEAR, GO LEFT. ALL OF THE LEPRECHAUNS DANCE AND DANCE TO YOUR MUSIC THEN FINALLY THEY ALL LEAVE THE HALL. AS THE KING LEAVES, HE FORGETS TO TAKE HIS SCEPTRE. TAKE IT AND THE SHIELD, THEN GO TO WHERE THE LEPRECHAUN KING WENT. GO TO THE LITTLE HOLE IN THE WALL. EAT YOUR MUSHROOM, THEN YOU'LL BE SHRUNKED DOWN TO A SIZE SMALL ENOUGH TO ALLOW YOU TO ENTER THE HOLE. OUTSIDE, YOU REGAIN YOUR FORMER SIZE. GO [N2X\E3X] TO THE CASTLE. WALK ACROSS THE BRIDGE, THEN OPEN THE DOOR. THUS ENDS THE KING'S QUEST.
