Chapter 6, Narayan - The Age of Balance

Look around and you'll see five sets of tapestries hanging on the wall. You also notice that one set is missing. Who might have done that?!? Study the tapestries and you'll notice that there are words written all over and each word has it's own sign. Somehow these signs do remind you of the symbols you gathered during your adventure.

Turn around and walk the stairs near the front door. Look to your right and you'll see two spherical devices and in between a big handle. When you click on the spherical devices, you only hear a hollow noise. The reason is that you don't have power yet.

Turn to the left and stand in front of the only clear looking window with the roots at the outside. Look through the window and you see some kind of vehicle hanging on a cable.

Turn to the right and you'll see a passage and stairs leading to the second floor. Climb up those stairs.

Step on the grating in the middle of that room. Through the dark door appears your friend and helper Saavedro! This time he's dressed into the missing tapestries... When he's finished, turn around and pull the brown handle on the floor.


Your first encounter with Saavedro

Now you'll hear a humming sound. That must be power! Climb down the stairs and walk to the big switch between the two spherical devices. When the handle points to the left, the power goes to the left and when the handle points to the right, the power goes to... the right!

We are starting with the left device. So make sure the handle points to the left. If not, pull it once.

Walk to the left device and click on it. The device raises. Click twice on the lid to open the device. That looks interesting... You see three different disks with symbols. Your goal is to imitate several symbols by clicking on the correct parts of each and every disk.

During your adventure you have already found three symbols, the Symbol of Energy (in the Voltaic Age), the Symbol of Dynamic Forces (in Amateria) and the Symbol of Nature (in Edanna The Age of Nature).

If you studied the tapestries well enough, you've found the signs of those three symbols and the words corresponding with those signs. The signs you found for the Symbol of Energy are corresponding with the words future and motion. The signs for the Symbol of Dynamic Forces are corresponding with the words force and change, and for the Symbol of Nature with the words nature and encourage.

Now there is a minor problem. The symbols only represent two words but they should exist out of four words. So this Saavedro guy gave you only half of the symbols!!! This bastard... Where the hell do you find the missing words and the corresponding signs???

No panic please! Just read Atrus journal. Page through the journal and you find the next three bolt written sentences:

Voltaic: energy powers future motion
Amateria: dynamic forces spur change
Edanna: nature encourages mutual dependence and

So now you have all four words to finish each symbol. Just find the matching signs on the tapestries and you are able to solve the disk puzzle.

Paging through Atrus journal reveals another bolt written sentence: balanced systems stimulate civilization. On the tapestries you can only find the word civilization and the corresponding sign... You simply can't find the words balance, stimulate and system so you neither can find the corresponding signs. Darn... now what? Again, don't panic please! First of all you gonna make the three symbols you now have.

In case the left device is closed because you went studying the tapestries once more, open it.

It doesn't matter which disk you are starting with or which symbol you're starting with. The only thing that matters is that you are starting on top of each disk and finish the symbols clockwise!

I started with the left down disk, after that I did the upper disk and finally the disk right down. I can't give you the order in which you should click each and every part of each disk. But... I can give you the image of how it should look like after you done your job well. Here they are:

When you finished all disks, the device closes and the force field, which keeps you and Saavedro captured here, disappears. Turn around and walk through the released opening. When you look around you'll notice another force field behind the vehicle. So you and Saavedro still can't leave this abandoned place!


Darn... another force field!

Turn to the left and climb down the stairs. When you are standing in the room below, look at the left to find the linking book to Atrus cottage in Tomahna. Take the book and save your game!

Wrong ending number 1:

select the linking book to Tomahna in your inventory, open it and click on the image inside the book. You will be transported to Tomahna. Turn around and walk towards the door... Your friends will welcome you and ask if you succeeded in setting free Saavedro and if you brought the Releeshan book. Well, to be brief, you didn't succeed in neither one of them. After a short while you'll find out what Saavedro meant with his remark "Be careful, not all opened doors are closing behind you".


Facing your friends empty handed. Hmmm... that never looks good!

Load your game and walk to the tapestries. Search and find the words balance, stimulate and system plus the corresponding signs. When you found them, climb up the stairs and enter the room. Turn the handle to the right. Walk to the device at the right and open it. Make the correct symbol also working from the top and clockwise! It should look like this:

When you did your job well again, the device closes and the other force field disappears as well. Saavedro enters and is very surprised that you did what he couldn't do in all those years he's been there. Of course you're the only one who knows that Atrus journal made it possible to solve the fourth Symbol...

Saavedro makes you an offer. He offers you the Releeshan book if you pull the handle so he can set off to the nearby island.

You know how you can trust this guy by now. So safe your game!!!

You now have five possibilities, of which only one is the correct solution. As you learned before, your goal is to set free Saavedro and to bring back the Releeshan book to Tomahna. I saved the correct solution till the last...

 

Wrong ending number 2:

You simply agree to Saavedro's proposal and you flip the handle between the two devices...

Look at that! That creep throws away the Releeshan book and off he goes... Leaving you behind a little bit perplexed!!! I told you how trustworthy this guy is...

Wrong ending number 3:

Leave the handle alone and walk outside. Stand close to Saavedro. After a while he starts yelling and screaming. Don't do anything, just stand there. Eventual he throws away the book and beats the hell out of you with his hammer!!! You can also return into the house and step back outside a few times. The third time you go outside Saavedro beats the hell out of you using the Releesahn book in stead of his hammer. The result however is the same... 


And now even beats the hell out of you...

 

Wrong ending number 4:

Leave the handle alone and walk upstairs. Pull the brown handle on the floor to shut down the power. You'll see Saavedro screaming and shouting downstairs. Pull the handle one more time to turn on the power. Saavedro enters the house. I guess you wonder where he's heading to. Well to be straight with you, he runs upstairs and beats the hell out of you... So in other words, he was heading for you.


He'll even hunt you down on the second floor...

Wrong ending number 5:

Leave the handle alone and walk upstairs. Pull the brown handle on the floor to shut down the power. You'll see Saavedro screaming and shouting downstairs. Walk downstairs and stand in front of the clear window with the roots on the outside. Saavedro now knows that he hasn't got a choice. So he gives you the book... Go upstairs and pull the handle one more time to turn on the power. Saavedro enters the house. I guess you know by now where he's heading to. Yep... he runs upstairs and beats the hell out of you one more time...


...and again...

The correct ending:

Walk upstairs. Step on the grid and pull the brown handle to shut of the power. Walk downstairs and stand in front of the clear window with the roots on the outside. Saavedro now knows that he hasn't got a choice. So he gives you the book...


Nice guy!

Turn around and pull the handle between the devices to the right. Walk upstairs and pull the handle to switch on the power. This Saavedro guy suddenly seems to be not so bad after all. Before he leaves, he even waves goodbye.


Bye Saavedro

When Saavedro has left to the nearby island, select the linking book to Tomahna from you inventory. Open it and click on the image inside the book.

When you arrived at Tomahna, turn around and walk towards the door...

You will be welcomed by your friends. Now you succeeded in setting free Saavedro and returning the Releeshan book. So... mission complete!
